The New Electronic Wax Pot of the Future!

Exclusive to Cinergee in Launceston, professional permanent hair reduction treatments with  SHR IPL (Intense Pulsed Light).

Imagine hair removal that is faster, more pleasant and safer than conventional systems

SHR (Super Hair Removal) technology combines laser hair removal and IPL. Conventional devices merely transport energy along the melanin to the hair follicles. SHR utilises the melanin pathway to the hair root 50% of the time combining it with In-Motion technology which gently warms the skin helping penetration down to the follicles (like adding thermolysis {electrolysis} but without the sharp burn in each follicle). A SHR device uses low energy but a high rate of repetition (up to 10 times per second) instead of using the traditional method with single, high energy impulses. Because the device does not deliver single, high powered pulses but continuous repetition with lower energy this allows us to treat white, grey and red hair. All treatments are performed by licenced therapists.

The following is a list of areas we specialise in removing hair from:

  • Brazilian, g-string or standard bikini line,
  • Legs – half, 3/4 or full
  • Arms -.half or full
  • Underarms
  • Upper lip, chin and sides of face
  • Throat or nape of neck
  • Men’s back, chest, shoulders, and legs

The big question we get asked is…………..Is it permanent hair removal?

Permanent hair removal can never be fully guaranteed by any method due to hormonal stimulation, some medications etc, however IPL/laser hair removal does bring about permanent hair reduction – in most cases, the majority of the hair will not return after a short series of treatments.

Contraindications to treatment.

  • Recent sun exposure if the skin has been altered in any way,  although a tanned skin can still be treated
  • light sensitive medications (and there are a lot of them including medications like Roaccutane, St. Johns Wort or ibuprofen)
  • any active cold sores in the area for treatment.
  • Pregnancy
  • Metal implants under the tissue to be treated
  • Diseases stimulated by light ie., Lupus, Porphyria, Epilepsy (although if Epilepsy is not light induced a doctors letter will allow us to proceed)
  • Active skin infection in the area i.e. psoriasis, eczema
  • Skin disorders i.e. keloids, abnormal wound healing
  • History of bleeding disorders/use of anticoagulants or blood thinning medication
  • Varicose veins in treatment area
  • Sun beds, spray tans and self tanning products if less than 2 weeks
  • Current history of skin cancer/other cancer/premalignant moles
  • Topical medications like hydrocortisone

There are other “cautions” where we will need a doctors certificate to proceed and this can be discussed at the time of consultation.

How many treatments will I need?

The course of treatment can vary from person to person and treatment area to treatment area, but we usually suggest to put aside around 18 months (or so) on average. When I think that I have waxed for 36 years with hair still requiring removal, this amount of time seems nothing in comparison. The degree of hair loss and the time taken to get results will vary from person to person as there are many factors that can influence hair growth. Some clients experience fast results in one area of the body only to have slower results in others. For maximum results we recommend you follow the initial course and when you do that, you may only need a few more treatments or even a maintenance treatment once or twice a year. As a general rule of thumb we usually find that waxed hair is faster to remove than “virgin” hair that hasn’t, and I can only assume that this is because waxed hair has already been weakened somewhat. But then this doesn’t always hold true in all circumstances. It really is a very individual process.

How does it work?

Traditionally Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) for hair removal, is attracted to melanin, the pigment (color) found in the hair and skin. With new technology (as mentioned above) white, grey and red hair is able to be treated very effectively with In-Motion technology due to a slightly different technique used on application.

How is the new technology different?

  1. For starters you don’t receive a flick like a rubber band against the skin – this is the biggest difference. Many people have tried outdated and older IPLs and have been turned away from treatment due to the pain and sensitivity caused.
  2. We can control the amount of flashes dependent on the area to be treated , this cuts down treatment time
  3. For large areas we glide over the area, so no hold, flick, move – hold, flick, move, pattern of treatment
  4. You do not receive a massive “heat” spike with each shot. Traditional technology releases much more heat (well above what is required to destroy the follicle) than the new technology. Traditional technology has two disadvantages – creates a lot more pain (many clients have stopped treatment elsewhere because of this) and has a higher risk of burning the skin
  5. We can work with tanned skin and up to Fitzpatricks skin type 5 – old outdated technology would severely burn this skin type and cause major healing and pigmentation problems
  6. This new technology does use heat, it just doesn’t overheat which is the problem with traditional technology
  7. As well as dark, black and brown hair, we can work with white, grey and red hair. Traditional technology is best suited to dark hair on white skin

Using this innovative technology, SHR laser/IPL equipment enables the treatment of blonde and nearly white hairs which were previously inaccessible by previous pigment based treatments. While light skin with dark hair responds most favourably to the treatments, Super Hair Removal has also been designed for darker skin treatments. By affecting the chromophore, a protein located in the hair follicle, treatment is also successful for darker skins and removing fine hair. While more effective, laser/IPL machines also provide better protection for the skin, and the light impulses are felt to a much lesser extent.

So to re-iterate what we use @ Cinergee –

Combining the benefits of IPL and Laser technology, Super Hair Removal (SHR) machines gently transports energy through the skin and melanin to the hair follicles. The hair folliles absorb the energy into the hair pigment and the transmuted heat, then diables the growing hair cells. We also have “motion technology” making your treatment faster, safer and more comfortable.

Traditional laser or IPL systems transmit a vast amount of energy, reaching the hair root solely through the melanin. Unfortunately, because the skin and red blood cells have a similar absorption rate as melanin they will also absorb those high levels of energy. This fault in traditional treatments can cause swelling that lasts several days and even third-degree burns.

What do I need to do before treatment?

  • Ideally avoid sun exposure for 4 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Always use a 30+ sunblock if not using antioxidant formulas like Environ, 15+ if your skin care supports sun protection which Environ does.
  • Solariums, spray tans and instant tan products must also be avoided in the area to be treated minimum 2 weeks.
  • Discontinue waxing, sugaring, tweezing, electolysis and depilatory creams on the area to be treated one month before your appointment.
  • Shave or clip the hair to ‘5 o’clock shadow’ length (1-2mm) if your hair is thick as best results are achieved with this length of hair. If your hair is fine and sparce do not do anything.

What happens during the treatment?

Your initial consultation can take around 15 – 30 minutes (depending on circumstances) where a test shot can be delivered and settings worked out depending on your Fitzpatricks skin type

Your eyes will be covered with goggles/eye pillow or glasses, a cool gel may be applied to large areas for gliding and then a flash/s is triggered. We do not need to use cool gels to cool the skin as with traditonal technology, we use them purely for their glide effect. For small areas we do not use gels at all.  We have many safety cooling features that eliminate the need to use gels to undertake the treatment.   Some say it is slightly warm or a very comfortable tingle. There is no stinging sensation or flick of a hot rubber band with our treatment.

Certain areas can be started straight away after your initial consultation other areas (or darker skin tones) may require 48 hours before treatment can commence.

What happens after the treatment?

This is a heat treatment so you may have some slight swelling, not from infection but because of the absorption of heat – this is normal.

Most people will have no discomfort at all after treatment, but in rare cases there may be some redness or a slight sunburn sensation in the treated area, which should ease within a couple of hours (usually within 15 minutes).

  • Do not go swimming, use a jaccuzi etc until any redness has settled or cause any friction to the treated area.
  • It can take anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks for the hairs to shed.
  • Do not remove the hairs from the root by tweezing, waxing, sugaring or electrolysis inbetween treatments – this is essential to a good outcome!
  • Makeup can be applied after treatment.
  • Exfoliate the area one week after treatment.
